Round 1: OLB/DE Khalil Mack, Buffalo
Important Stat: Had 10.5 sacks in 2013.
Free Agent signings have made this pick clear. Atlanta’s defense now looks to be leaning towards more of a base 3-4 look next year, and while I’d love to have Clowney, I’d be more than content if Khalil Mack were to land in our laps.
Khalil is the literal “Swiss Army Knife.” We could see him in both the 3-4, and 4-3, allowing Mike Nolan to experiment with multiple looks and make Mack a player offenses have to gameplan around.
One of the most impressive athletes in the entire draft, Mack is an admirable run defender and equally impressive in the pass rushing department. The possibilities are endless, and with the way the defense is going to operate this season, Khalil seems like the obvious choice for the Falcons’ defense.
