In an eventful day in the Falcons’ front office, Thomas Dimitroff made a bold, but necessary move to bolster the talent of the team by bringing home the Braves’ Jason Heyward (6’5″, 245 lbs). The Braves will receive the Falcons’ 2014 2nd round pick, as well as the team’s 2015 2nd rounder. What the Braves will, and can do with their newly acquired picks is unknown.
In a late afternoon press conference Dimitroff expressed his joy…
"You know, Jason is a tough guy. He broke his jaw last year, and got up and walked right off the field – no problem. We want this kind of toughness in our team. That’s the area we have been addressing all offseason, and it’s not often that you see guys display that amount of it in today’s world of professional sports."
He also gave us some some plans for the newest Falcon…
"We think Jason can help us in a few areas, but we mostly look forward to what he can do in terms of catching the ball. He’s got great size, and will definitely be an asset as a tight end. He won the Golden Glove Award a few years ago, and Smitty, Scott, and I were pretty sure that means he has good hands. We’ll see. At this point, we’re just excited to have him."
Dimitroff is known for his yearly draft trades, so this almost comes to no surprise. Will Heyward solidify the Falcons’ tight end position? Express your thoughts below!
