Atlanta Falcons 2014 Mock Draft: Khalil Mack Falls To Six
By Jake Bennett
Round 1, Pick 6: OLB/DE Khalil Mack, Buffalo
If Mack is on the board at 6th overall, Thomas Dimitroff will be crying tears of joy. The pass rush has been virtually non-existent for the last 4 years in Atlanta, and a top 10 pick gives them the chance to finally do something about it.
Khalil Mack , 6’3″ 251 lbs, is one of the most versatile players in the entire draft. Defensive Coordinator Mike Nolan would be able to use him anywhere on the field, and create schematic nightmares for opposing quarterbacks. You can put him at defensive end in a 4-3 set, or stand him up in a 3-4. The Falcons free agency additions show that Nolan plans to use more 3-4 looks in 2014, and Mack fits perfectly in the hybrid scheme.
Khalil is a blue-collar prospect who was lightly recruited out of high school, and had to claw his way to the top of the NCAA. Atlanta will fall in love.
