Falcon’s minicamp fired up this week, and there is a ton to report about on day one.  Players seemed very happy and laid back, but the pressure to return to playoff form was apparent.   Here’s just a few things I noticed in my one day trip to the Branch.

Tyler Starr had some difficulty; getting blocked and handled for the better part of the day.  Earlier reports had him lighting up the field, so hopefully it was just a bad practice for him.

2013 2nd round pick Robert Alford had a phenomenal day, breaking up several passes and just missing an interception or two.

HBO’s Hard Knocks film crew was present, and were virtually unnoticeable.  They don’t seem to be a distraction just yet.

Jonathan Babineaux lined up at RDE in 3-4 alignments, allowing Tyson Jackson play to his strengths against the run blocking tackle.

OT Sam Baker moved around well today, and assisted in creating some large holes for the running backs.  Hopefully it stays that way all year.

Paul Worrilow, Steven Jackson, and Desmond Trufant all looked bigger.  The theme of more physicality definitely involves the entire team.

Roddy White and Julio Jones were present, but did not participate in much of anything.  However, I did catch Julio and Hester tossing the pigskin back and forth.

Dwight Lowery took 1st team reps, while Dezmen Southward took 2nd team.  Both looked very solid, though it’s tough to judge their tackling when they can’t exactly… tackle.

No. 89 Bernard “Speedy” Reedy is a UDFA from Toledo who put on a show for the fans, and looks to be a very explosive vertical threat for the offense.  Look for Reedy to possibly crack the final roster if he continues his exciting play.
