Cornerback

Role: Nickel, Dime and Depth

In The Race: Robert McClain, Josh Wilson, Javier Arenas, Ricardo Allen

One of the toughest competitions, there is good talent loaded here. Ricardo Allen will almost certainly make the 53 due to the 5th round pick invested in him. There isn’t much separating the other 3, what makes it difficult to project is that they have all been good on special teams as well. Robert McClain will be entering his 3rd year with the team, Josh Wilson and Javier Arenas are both veterans. All have kick returning potential and special teams experience. With Trufant and Alford likely to sit against the Jaguars, it will be a good occasion for the trio to separate themselves.

My Verdict: I think they will all make the team. Shouldn’t drop good players just because you don’t have enough room, especially with cornerbacks. The competition will surely go on into the regular season.
