A more realistic pick-up for the Atlanta Falcons, Cliff Avril would instantaneously make this team better. The secondary hasn’t been the problem, it has been the pathetic pass rush that never seemed to get to the quarterback on time.
Avril has picked up 37 sacks his last four years of football, and is one of the main keys to the success of the Seahawks defense. But with money going to Russell Wilson, the Hawks can’t afford Avril, enough said.
He will still be expensive. Proven young pass rushers are hard to find in this league, so when Houston is gone teams with money will immediately turn their attention into 56. But it’s still more realistic.
