Final verdict: Jerry Hughes would be a welcome addition to the Atlanta Falcons, as he would fill the need for an edge rusher and could take some pressure off any rookie DEs taken in the draft. Whilst his success in Buffalo was helped by the strength of the unit, this was through no fault of his own, and serves as more of a question mark than a red flag. Should the Falcons consider Hughes, price will be an important factor, as a smart deal could allow them to chase a second top tier free agent to address another need. The organisation has been burned recently when signing the ‘complimentary’ piece on a stout defensive line, and with the Ray Edwards signing relatively fresh in the memories of Falcons fans, tempered expectations would be wise. Overall I would love for the Falcons to pursue Hughes, provided they also address the pass rush in the draft.
