Final Verdict: Julius Thomas is the big named free agent whom many fans want to see the Falcons go after. Atlanta would make a splash signing him, but that doesn’t mean it would be the smartest signing. While he would give the birds a legitimate touchdown threat, and solid blocking, that’s pretty much all he’d give. It just wouldn’t be wise to get into an inevitable bidding war for Thomas, and spend a lot of valuable cap room on the offensive side of the ball when Atlanta’s defense was the worst in the league last year. It would be best if the Falcons let someone else use their cap to sign this consensus best free TE on the market, and for them to look at someone like Jordan Cameron instead.

What are your thoughts on Julius Thomas? Should the Falcons do whatever it takes to sign him and bolster the offense even further, or should they let someone else sign him, and use that cap space to focus on the defense and run game? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to Blogging Dirty for more free agent coverage.
