Nov 29, 2014; Louisville, KY, USA; Louisville Cardinals safety Gerod Holliman (8) returns an interception against the Kentucky Wildcats during the second half at Papa John

Gerod Holliman; Louisville University FS

Round 2 Pick 42

Last year, Atlanta Falcons drafted Dezmen Southward to be the FS where he struggled with reading receiver’s moves and blew big plays.  Now Dan Quinn wants to move him to cornerback where his athleticism could be better for press coverage.  I wholeheartedly agree.  Gerod Holliman turned in a great sophmore campaign with over 14 interceptions including two over future Buccaneer Jameis Winston.  At 6’0 220 lbs, he has the size to cover large tightends with the natural instinct to be a ball hawk for the Atlanta Falcons. Could Holliman be a reach here? Last season, Deone Bucannon was mocked by several sites to the Atlanta Falcons in the third.  Bucannon became an instant starter for the Arizona Cardinals and played very well. I believe with how the system is now with the need for safeties, that the Atlanta Falcons need to take the best safety out there.  Now imagine a secondary featuring, Trufant, Alford, Southward, Moore, and Holliman.  It could easily turn into one of the best secondary’s in the NFL.
