Round 3: RB Jay Ajayi, Boise State
With two key parts added to the defense, the Falcons can turn their attention to offense in the third-round. While the passing offense was great in 2014, The Dirty Birds could do with improving a ground game that ranked 24th in the NFL last term.
In this year’s draft, there is a deep class of running backs. A talented back who could fall to the third-round is Jay Ajayi. The London-born Boise State star has been likened to Marshawn Lynch.
While it may be a little unfair to compare him to one of the best running backs in the NFL right now, he does share some physical traits to Lynch.
Ajayi finished his three seasons at Boise State with 678 carries for 3,796 yards and 50 touchdowns. He can also be used as pass-catcher; he totalled 73 receptions for 771 yards and five touchdowns.
He has a rare blend of speed and power, and is able to pick up yards after initial contact. Ajayi is a tough runner and has the potential to become a great player in the NFL. If he is available for the Falcons with the 73rd-overall pick, they shouldn’t pass him up.
