How many Atlanta Falcons players were you planning on selecting in your fantasy football team this season? A few Falcons could be among the highest scorers for their position again this year.

Don’t take my word for it — I might be able to help you earn a playoff berth by fluke, but be prepared for your team to completely collapse in the first postseason game. At least, that’s what happens to me every year. My team might as well be named the Cincinnati Bengals.

But no, don’t take my word for it. The great Matthew Berry of ESPN has constructed an early set of rankings for each position, and you could find plenty of value in a few Falcons players. Let’s run through where they rank in Berry’s list for each position.

Quarterbacks

As you can imagine, Matt Ryan ranks high among quarterbacks after finishing 2014 as the seventh highest fantasy scorer at the position.

1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Andrew Luck
3. Peyton Manning
4. Russell Wilson
5. Drew Brees
6. Matt Ryan

Rodgers and Luck were miles ahead of the pack last year from a fantasy point-of-view. They will once again be near the top due to their pass-happy offenses and ability to hit any throw.

Rodgers is the best quarterback in the NFL right now in my opinion, and this translates to fantasy. The only problem is that many times last year, he was so good that coach Mike McCarthy would pull him from the game in the third or fourth quarter, which is frustrating for owners.

Luck’s aggression is his biggest strength and weakness. If you select him, be prepared for him to throw two interceptions in the first quarter. But don’t worry, he will most likely go onto pickup 400 yards and four touchdowns later and single-handedly win your game.

Manning is tough to call. Was his decline at the backend of last year a sign of what’s to come? Wilson is surprisingly a strong fantasy scorer. He doesn’t throw many interceptions and has the ability to burn defenses with his legs.

Ryan is a great option for your team if a couple from the top of the list are gone. He doesn’t tend to be taken in the first couple of rounds either, which means you can stock up on talent at running back and receiver before adding him.
