4. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

For now, Drew Brees remains high on this list. The key words here are for now.

Time may be running out for Brees, who’s performances declined somewhat in 2014, particularly at the backend of the season. That statement may seem contradictory considering the fact he earned his fifth passing yards title last term.

His passing yards dipped below 5,000 for the first time since 2010; his 33 touchdowns was his lowest since the same season; his 17 interceptions was tied for third-most in his career.

His 302.98 fantasy points was good for sixth most among quarterbacks, but he was frustratingly inconsistent at times.

The concern with drafting Brees this year is not only with the continued decline of his performances, but also the balance the Saints’ offense is trying to establish.

Once a pass happy offensive unit, we could be seeing more carries to running backs Mark Ingram and free agency acquisition C.J. Spiller in the coming season.

Brees’ biggest weapon, Jimmy Graham, has also left town.

On the other side, Brees should still offer plenty for fantasy owners. While his game is declining, he will only be a season removed from finishing tied for first in passing yards with Ben Roethlisberger.

Even if his overall performance is slightly off, he should still put up yards and touchdowns.
