Why to watch

You can be sure there will plenty of knee-jerk reactions after this game for good and bad. If the Titans score, Marcus Mariota will be tipped as rookie of the year and the Falcons defense will be considered a bust.

But when it’s all said and done, the score of the game is irrelevant. It doesn’t matter if mistakes are made, because this is the time for the creases to be ironed out and for coaches to try things out. If a player struggles in a role, it’s best to know now than in the regular season when wins and losses mean everything.

So why should be watch?

This is a chance to see the Falcons fighting for a place on the roster. We know how good Julio Jones is, we know what Matt Ryan can do in under two minutes, and we can wait for that in four weeks time in the season opener.

This game provides a chance for the exciting rookie class, the undrafted guys and the veterans fighting for a place to show Dan Quinn what they can do in a Falcons jersey.

Not only that, this game marks the beginning of the Quinn era in Atlanta. There’s been a lot of talk. Fast and physical so we here. Well now is the time to show it, and it’s going to be fun to watch.
