8. RB David Cobb, Tennessee Titans
Here’s another sleeper. In what was a generally unimpressive night for the Tennessee Titans run game, David Cobb played nicely against the Atlanta Falcons in the preseason opener. He carried the football 11 times for 53 yards with a healthy average of 4.8 yards per carry.
He was by far the pick of the Titans’ backs in the game. While we shouldn’t look too much into a preseason game, it further enforced my belief that Cobb will dethrone Bishop Sankey as the leading back in Tennessee.
Cobb has plenty of potential and is a good fit for the Titans’ scheme.
“Cobb is a bowling ball, downhill runner who fits what Wisenhunt wants to do in his power run scheme. He is tough and physical enough to carry the load and even contribute as a spot starter,” said Mark Dulgerian of NFL.com.
In what was a deep class of rookies, Cobb should fall to the later rounds and is well worth a shot. Marcus Mariota will need plenty of support from the run game this year, and Cobb could be the guy to provide it.
If he’s there late on, pick him.
