It’s time for football again, as the Atlanta Falcons prepare to take on the New York Jets in the second week of preseason. The Falcons started well with a 31-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans last week, but more importantly the starters looked good on both side of the ball.

It was as you expect on offense, with Matt Ryan connecting with Julio Jones on four of his six completions, and it was Jones who took the ball into the end zone at the end of the drive. Defensively, the team played up to the ‘fast and physical’ promise Dan Quinn gave when he took over as head coach.

Expect more of the same if we see Ryan and the first-team offense in action for long Friday, but this game will once again be more about what the reserves can do. Which players are ready to start in the regular season? Which guys will earn their roster spot?

The Jets, much like the Falcons, are looking to rebuild with a new head coach in Todd Bowles. Whereas Atlanta is aiming to strengthen the league’s worst defense to help out one of the premier passing games in the NFL, New York is looking to do the opposite. The Jets’ passing game ranked dead last in 2014, but their defense is among the best in the league.

The first regular season game is just three weeks away, and it’s time for the second of four exhibition games. Let’s break it down.
