2006 was a very important year for the New Orleans Saints. It was the first time playing back in the then Louisiana Superdome after hurricane Katrina swept through the state in 2005. The Saints were led by new coach Sean Peyton and new quarterback Drew Brees and turned a damaged team and city into a year to remember.

The Saints won the division in 2006 with a record of 10-6 and defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 27-24 to reach the NFC Championship for the first time in franchise history. The Saints would wind up losing that game to the Chicago Bears, 39-14, but the City finally had a team to root for and a great roster of players to love.
