The Atlanta Falcons at this time were a solid team under Mike Smith and Matt Ryan, but hadn’t had a breakout season, yet. That changed in 2010. The Falcons won their first NFC South division title since 2004 and had the number one seed in the NFC with a 13-3 record. Unfortunately, the Falcons lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in the divisional round, 48-21.
The Falcons sent nine players to the pro bowl. The list included Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Tony Gonzalez, John Abraham and Brent Grimes. Even though the season ended on a sour note, it will still go down as one of the best seasons in Atlanta Falcons history and set the tale for the next few seasons.
