The coaches

Dan Quinn and Bill O’Brien have plenty in common. They are two young coaches looking to help their teams become contenders. The Falcons have missed the playoffs the past two seasons, and Quinn’s on a mission to make them a tough, physical team who can finish. He wants balance on offense and a strong defense, the foundations of a successful playoff team.

O’Brien is building an incredible defensive unit, led by J.J. Watt. Second-year Jadeveon Clowney has all the potential in the world assuming he can stay healthy, and they added some nice pieces in the draft with linebacker Benardrick McKinney and cornerback Kevin Johnson. With Arian Foster and DeAndre Hopkins on offense, the team is solid quarterback play away from being a serious challenger.

O’Brien is in his second year as a head coach, and led the Texans to a 9-7 finish just a year after winning only two games. Quinn is 3-0 in his first year as head coach, taking over a team that went 6-10 a year ago.
