The quarterbacks

This is becoming a weekly theme, a mismatch at quarterback. Kirk Cousins was named the starting quarterback in preseason ahead of Robert Griffin III, and the results have been a mixed bag. He’s led his team to a 2-2 start, but Ryan is miles ahead of him.

Ryan’s current level of play is among the best in the league. Behind Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, there aren’t many passers playing as well as him. This season, he’s completed 67.1 percent of his passes for 1,202 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions.

Cousins is a capable passer, but turnovers are his biggest issue. He will need to protect the football against the Falcons to be able to keep up with Ryan’s dominant offense. At the most important position, there is a mismatch in Atlanta’s favor.
