The coaches

Dan Quinn couldn’t have asked for a better start as head coach of the Falcons, leading the team to a 5-0 start for only the second time in franchise history. This week, he matches up against one of the best in Sean Payton. Payton has been head coach of the Saints since 2006 and led them to a Super Bowl victory in 2009.

What he has is experience, and this could play a factor in the outcome if it gets tight late on. Payton has led his team to three division titles and an NFC crown to go along with his ring.

Payton’s teams have always dominated on offense, which is hardly surprising considering his offensive background. He was offensive coordinator with the Giants before becoming a head coach, and has also spent time as a quarterbacks coach in the NFL.

While Quinn also has one of the league’s top offenses at his disposal, his calling card is defense, and we are already seeing his mark on the Falcons’ unit. The pass defense is a work in progress, Atlanta has stopped the run better than any other team. This should be an interesting battle between the coaches.
