I spoke with Les Bailey this week, editor of Titan Sized, which is our FanSided affiliate site that covers the Tennessee Titans. It’s interesting to get a Titans perspective on this game and the season so far. Here’s the five questions I asked.

After selecting him with the second overall pick, there are high expectations for Marcus Mariota. What’s your take on his performances after five games?

LB: I personally feel like Marcus Mariota is the real deal and is indeed a franchise quarterback. We got a chance to see his grit in the Cleveland and Indianapolis games. But unfortunately teams watch game film and he doesn’t have enough play makers to help him win some games they should have won. I’m not sure he can survive the “black hole” that lives in Nashville.

The Titans are building for the future, and they hope they have found their franchise quarterback. How do you see the team progressing in the coming seasons?

LB: The Titans have been building for the future for almost a decade now. I’m not sure the team has received enough support from the ownership which is a major ingredient for a franchise’s success. When Bud Adams passed away, so did the Oilers/Titans franchise.
