9. NEW YORK JETS (4-3)

Injuries are plaguing the New York Jets, and it could derail their season. Early in Sunday’s loss to Oakland, starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick suffered ligament damage in his thumb. The good news is it’s not in his throwing hand, but until he is able to grip the football and take snaps, he will be out of action.
To make matters worse, backup Geno Smith also got hurt, and receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are banged up. Chris Ivory has been nursing a hamstring issue which has limited his effectiveness. Safety Calvin Pryor has an ankle injury, corner Buster Skrine is playing through a number of injuries and center Nick Mangold remains out with a neck injury.
That’s tough to stomach for the Jets, who are potentially one of the AFC’s top teams when healthy, as the close game with New England a couple of weeks ago proved. They need to get some of these guys back against Jacksonville this week.
