Carolina Panthers (8-0) at Tennessee Titans (2-6)

Carolina has gotten by beating teams that, often, have beat themselves. It seems like everyone plays their worst game against the Panthers, but maybe that says something about how good the Panthers are. This is not a team that’s going to go undefeated, but they are pretty good.

Tennessee showed some signs of life last week, and I think they are pretty underrated in general. The Panthers are better, and the Titans have been atrocious at home. Here’s hoping Tennessee proves me wrong.

Pick: Carolina 24, Tennessee 23

Dallas Cowboys (2-6) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-5)

The Bucs are in that area between “bad” and “mediocre”, not able to put a consistent performance together week to week. Their offense has been improving, but the defense is still a liability.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are playing quite poorly with Romo out of the picture and the return of Dez Bryant hasn’t done much to lift up the offense. Neither of these teams inspires much confidence, but you have to give the nod to the Bucs at home.

Pick: Tampa Bay 24, Dallas 20

New Orleans Saints (4-5) at Washington Redskins (3-5)

The Saints have returned to their status as of a couple years ago: fantastic offense, terrible defense. They can score points, but they can’t stop the opposition from scoring points either. New Orleans is going to struggle all year to win shootouts, and when they come up against teams that can “out-shoot” them, they’ll lose.

Washington has been lackluster on offense, with a running game that was No. 1 in the league at one point completely and inexplicably falling apart. Their defense has some solid pieces, but can they hold up to the Saints attack?

Pick: New Orleans 31, Washington 27

Last week: 1-3
Season: 16-13
