28. TENNESSEE TITANS (3-10)

When your team is led by a rookie quarterback with a number of young pieces to the puzzle, you’re going to have games where everything goes wrong. That was the case at MetLife Stadium as the Tennessee Titans ran into a red hot Jets team.

Marcus Mariota got a taste of one of the league’s best defenses, and his only joy came when catching a pass from Antonio Andrews and taking it into the end zone for a 41-yard touchdown. It took a gutsy, creative call to find a way through the Jets defense.

Defensively, the Titans had no answer for an underrated Jets offense. Chris Ivory dominated on the ground with 22 carries for 101 yards, and Ryan Fitzpatrick had no trouble picking out Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker on a regular basis. Fitzpatrick threw for three touchdowns.

Ultimately, it was the Jets’ 11-minute advantage in time of possession paired with costly Mariota interception that was the difference. In one corner was a polished Jets team on the hunt of a playoff berth, while the other featured a young team with its eye on the future. It’s losses like this one that will help the Titans grow.
