12) Falcons 34, Giants 0 : February 16, 2012

Making a statement

After the miraculous Super Bowl win, the New York Giants came rumbling into the Georgia Dome on December 16, 2012. It appeared as if they were still vacationing at Disney World because they forgot to show up when facing the underdog Atlanta Falcons, who seemed to be on a mission to prove the doubters wrong, and, boy, did they.

Every part of the defensive scheme was working to perfection as they yielded limited yardage. And run-first offensive attack was gashing out huge bits of yardage against a very good Giants’ defense.

I remember watching this game, and Asante Samuel and Brent Grimes locked down the corners of the pass-heavy offense from the Giants. It was as if New York failed to even inch their way across the 50 yard line in this game.

This was a landmark victory for this team as they steamrolled into the playoffs after getting off to a slow start that year, and the high-flying Falcons handed the worst loss of 34-0 to a defending Super Bowl champion in NFL history.
