Never put the game in the hands of Jay Feely
Michael Vick had a lot of spectacular runs in his time with the Atlanta Falcons and his 2-yard touchdown on fourth-and-goal with less than 2 minutes left in the fourth quarter is right up there with the best of them. Vick’s touchdown tied the game at 31-31 to send the game into overtime.
Carolina won the coin toss and elected to receive but quarterback Delhomme overthrow Ricky Proehl and his pass was intercepted by Aaron Beasley who returned it 30 yards down to the Carolina 23-yard line.
Jay Feely then nailed a 38-yard field goal for a 34-31 victory over the Panthers on Saturday night to give the Falcons the No.2 seed in the playoffs. The win snapped a 5-game losing streak to the Panthers and helped set up the Falcons’ deep playoff run.
