19) Falcons 37, Saints 34: September 7, 2014

A taste of your own medicine

Heading into the 2014 season, the Atlanta Falcons were coming off an extremely disappointing 4-12 season but they quickly put that behind them with a miraculous come from behind win over the rival New Orleans Saints.

Matt Ryan threw for a franchise-record 448 yards on 31 of 43 passing and three touchdowns while Julio Jones hauled in seven balls for 116 yards to lead all receivers. The Falcons trailed by 13 points multiple times in the game, but took the lead with 2:50 remaining in the fourth quarter after Jacquizz Rodgers took a handoff 17 yards to the house.

However, the Saints jumped back out in front after a 71-yard drive in just 90 seconds was capped off by a 3-yard run from Mark Ingram to put the Saints up 34-31 with 1:20 left in the game. Ryan used his magic and got into field goal range which allowed Matt Bryant to nail a 51-yard field goal to send the game into over time.

After winning the toss, the Saints’ Marques Colston was stripped by William Moore and recovered by Falcons’ linebacker Joplo Bartu just two plays into the Saints’ drive. Ryan once again drove the Falcons into field goal range and Bryant finished the Saints off after drilling a 52-yarder.

The win was short-lived as the Falcons only won six games in 2014.
