To say it was a big day for Julio Jones would be an understatement. The superstar out of Alabama had a season high in receiving yards, and scored his third highest point total of the season (only scoring more points against the Eagles and Cowboys, in the first three of the season).
Jones clearly got the better of his matchup against Josh Norman, demonstrating that the Panthers’ talked about CB can not come close to guarding him one on one.
Julio’s play of the season came not against Norman, however, but against Luke Kuechley: as he Moss’d the superstar LB on a 70 yard touchdown catch on 3rd and long in a crucial period of the game. That was the play that shifted momentum fully onto the side of the birds.
While in the process of toasting the Carolina Panthers, Julio Jones set the single season Falcons records for receiving yards, one week after setting the franchise record for catches in a season. He’s 15 receptions away from breaking Marvin Harrison’s NFL record for catches in a season.
Analysis: Julio Jones is the best wide receiver in the NFL, and he should be the first non running back off the board in fantasy football drafts next season. Take him after the elite crop of RBs in drafts, somewhere in the mid to late first round.
