Heading into his first year as an NFL starter, Ricardo Allen played pretty well when he was out on the field for the Atlanta Falcons. Allen converted from his natural position of cornerback to the Falcons’ newest free safety and had a solid year.

The expectations for Allen heading into the season were very low. Many figured he would make far to many mistakes early on and would likely be replaced with a veteran but that wasn’t exactly how things went down.

Allen got off to a very hot start including a game sealing interception against the Philadelphia Eagles in week 1. Allen followed that up with back-to-back interceptions against the Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings and had a crucial sack of rookie Jameis Winston midway though the season.

Sure, Allen had his fair share of dumb plays but that was expected out of a rookie out on the field. All in all, Allen played well above expectations and has a good shot at being back out on the field for the Falcons in 2016.
