The hype surrounding Justin Hardy heading into training camp and into the regular season was relatively high. The rookie wideout was drafted in the fourth round and was expected to be the starting slot receiver in 2015.

The Falcons cut ties with veteran slot receiver Harry Douglas after last season and were in the market for a younger receiver to replace him. Atlanta wasted no time in drafting Hardy to be that guy we had thought, but that isn’t how it turned out to be.

Hardy was inactive for much of the season and wound up only playing in nine games. Hardy caught just 21 passes on the season for 194 yards and no touchdowns.

For a player as hyped up as Hardy, it never equivilated into anything. Now is that Hardy’s fault? I don’t believe so. Hardy should have been out on the field from day one but never was given an opportunity.

Let’s hope that Hardy is more involved in the offense in 2016.
