9. Nickel corner

This season has proven to be a great, turning point for this defense as they improved tremendously from their horrid performances of the past couple of years. But there were some areas of grave concern that must be addressed immediately before teams continue to exploit these match-ups. One of those is the nickel corner position.

When the Falcons selected Jalen Collins in last year’s draft, I , like everyone else, was excited because I thought that he would translate perfectly into that role. But, unfortunately, his impact has been missing since he was selected, and it is time to bring the next guy, or guys, in to provide coverage for those slot receivers that always seem to have field days against Atlanta.

If Atlanta can bring in a great nickel through free agency, this should be on the list. When you can couple a lock-down Nickel with the most underrated cornerback tandem in the NFL in Robert Alford and Desmond Trufant, this team will continue to make progressive strides on the defensive side of the ball.
