General manager Thomas Dimitroff hasn’t done the best job of building talent along the team’s roster and the results of the past few seasons has been the result. Dimitroff’s inability to acquire talent that can stay with the team longer than two seasons may be his downfall despite acquiring players like Julio Jones, Matt Ryan, Vic Beasley, Devonta Freeman, Desmond Trufant, and Jake Matthews.

It has been quite remarkable that the Falcons went 8-8 this seasons despite not having a lot of quality depth along the roster. Still, Owner Arthur Blank stated that Dimitroff would return but it is said that he would have a short leash when it comes to bringing in players. This is where Phil Emery and Ruston Webster comes into the situation.

Signed to become national scouts, Webster and Emery together both bring over 40 years of experience evaluating players. This was bold statement from the organization to others around the league that the Falcons had full trust in head coach Dan Quinn and were going to surround him with best support group.

We are transitioning to great times in Falcons’ history but the off-season will prove to be one of the most difficult ones in recent years. It is going to take a lot of great minds to build a winning team and the hiring of both Emery and Webster proves to be one of the many steps taken towards that goal.
