Atlanta Falcons: What should be addressed in first round of 2016 NFL Draft?
You’ve had your say. Which area should the Atlanta Falcons address in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft?
We asked for your vote, and you delivered. What position should the Atlanta Falcons focus on in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft? Here’s the results.
The emphasis is on defense, whether that’s at linebacker or on the defensive line. It’s clear that two of the Falcons’ biggest needs include bolstering the pass rush, and also finding a new linebacker. Despite drafting Vic Beasley with the eighth overall pick last year, the Falcons still struggled to post sacks. They could go a long way to fixing the pass rush by adding another talented defensive end early in the draft.
Linebacker is also a key need. The Falcons struggled when dropping into coverage, but there is believed to be a deep class at inside linebacker, so it’s possible they wait it out.
What about wide receiver?
This is certainly a position of need, particularly if Roddy White doesn’t return. Julio Jones is one of the best in the league, and Justin Hardy could become an excellent option in the slot, but there is a glaring vacancy at the No. 2 spot. The Falcons could shore up their receiving corps by going early at the position, but it seems more likely they will wait beyond the first round.
Next: The Atlanta Falcons should move on from Roddy White
If they turn to offense with the 17th overall pick, perhaps it will be on an offensive lineman. Despite the line playing pretty well in 2015, they can certainly do with young talent coming up.
Atlanta Falcons fans, you’ve had your say. You want the Falcons to draft a linebacker with their first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
