Jonathan Babineaux has had a great career with the Atlanta Falcons and we have all grown to love him as both a football player and a person. While we never want to see our fan favorites leave the team, this is a cut that the Falcons will likely make next month.

Babineaux is 34 and doesn’t have a lot left to offer. He played in a minimal role in 2015 and is only good enough to play on a certain snap count. The Falcons drafted defensive tackle Grady Jarrett in the fifth round last season and his terrific progression might make the choice to cut Babineaux much easier.

Babineaux will be sorely missed. He is one of the most well-liked players in Falcons history but every football player hits a stage in their career in which they just don’t have anything to offer. The only reason the Falcons might consider keeping him is to continue to mentor Jarrett.
