Which five positions must the Atlanta Falcons address in free agency?

There’s no doubting the Atlanta Falcons made progress under Dan Quinn in 2015. The defense is no longer the league’s worst, the offensive line held up and the ground game came to life. But the Falcons are still a long way from the bright lights of a Super Bowl berth. What should be the priorities in free agency?

Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff will need another strong draft this offseason, but with only five picks currently, free agency will almost certainly come into play next month. Last year, the Falcons brought in the likes of Adrian Clayborn, O’Brien Schofield and Leonard Hankerson. It was a mixed bag.

Dimitroff knows he’s on thin ice. A poor offseason followed up with another average campaign could cost him his job. The sense of urgency could well be increased, which could lead to some more moves in free agency. Time will tell on that.

As of right now, it’s impossible to know with any certainty which pending free agents will in fact hit the market. Many will be re-signed before the window opens, while others will be slapped with their team’s franchise tag.

So let’s look at position groups. Where can the Falcons strengthen in free agency?
