Eric Weems has been a fan-favorite on the Atlanta Falcons for many years, even after leaving for the Chicago Bears and returning back in 2014, but it’s time to part ways for good.

Weems used to excel on special teams as a gunner and as a returner, but now he can’t really do either all that well. Where he is the biggest liability is on offense. He doesn’t play offense and when the Falcons are already struggling to find receivers to throw the ball to, cutting someone who is standing in the way of another is the only option.

Old man Weems just isn’t cut out to play in the NFL anymore. He isn’t fast enough to be deadly in the return game and he isn’t going to make any plays on offense. When it gets to that point, it’s time to move on and that’s likely what the Falcons will do once free agency opens up in March.
