Atlanta Falcons: Updated first-round options
2) Leonard Floyd, OLB
Leonard Floyd is a guy that I mocked to the Atlanta Falcons two months ago and people wrote it off. Now it’s looking more and more like Floyd to Atlanta is a real possibility and it makes me a very happy camper. Not only does Floyd has a ton of potential, but he’s a Georgia native and will likely be available at pick 17.
Floyd is a lot like Vic Beasley and Ra’Shede Hagemen in the fact that they aren’t ready to succeed at the highest level right away. It took Hagemen one year before he was capable of staring and still hasn’t reached is full potential.
Floyd still needs to put on some weight but he has all of the tools to grow into a great outside linebacker. Floyd can rush the passer pretty well and possesses the speed that Dan Quinn is looking for. If you’re looking for a player to come in and be dominant right away, Floyd isn’t for you. But, if you’re interested in a project then he is. The Falcons seem to love project players so he’s going to be high on their radar without a doubt.
