When the Atlanta Falcons were reported as being linked to former Cleveland Browns’ right tackle Mitchell Schwartz it was quite odd. The Falcons gave Ryan Schraeder with a second-round tender but it would be odd if the team  really wanted to see him walk away.

If any team offers him a contract and the Falcons do not match it, they would receive a second-round draft pick for him. If that’s the case, Schwartz instantly rises up the Falcons’ list of players to sign so that’s likely why his name popped up on Atlanta’s radar yesterday.

Signing Schwartz just doesn’t make a ton of sense. He is ranked one spot above Schraeder on the list of tackles and is going to cost upwards of $9 million. Why the Falcons would throw that much money his way is pretty mind-boggling so don’t expect this to go down. Expect Schraeder to be back with the Falcons next season unless someone offers him a ridiculous contract. In that case, hello second-hand pick!
