Round 1, 17th overall: Darron Lee, LB , Ohio State
Even with the addition of Weatherspoon, there is no guarantee that Spoon is the old Weatherspoon that we knew before he departed for the Arizona Cardinals a season ago. At 28 years old, there is still a possibility that Spoon may have a little something to offer to the linebacker unit and the defense as a whole.
You can pencil in Spoon as one member of a training camp battle at the weak-side linebacker spot. His competition will come in the form of a 6-1 235 pound athletic linebacker from Ohio State. In Darron Lee the Falcons get a dangerous outside linebacker with 4.4 speed, exceptional footwork, and the ability to provide a service that Atlanta linebackers haven’t seen in a while, solid pass coverage. Lee can be a very excellent to the Falcons scheme and provide elite playmaking skill set.
