The Falcons will need a strong 2016 draft class to save their season

The Falcons need to make sure that the five players they draft are all worthy of playing next season. There is a good chance that thew will need at least two of their draft picks to have a significant role on the team and that’s easier said than done.

Whoever their first-round pick will be is going to be a full-time starter. Whether that’s weak side linebacker Darron Lee, defensive end Shaq Lawson or whoever else they draft, they will have significant roles on the team.

Their second-round pick could go in a number of different ways. They could use this pick on a safety or address the linebacker or defensive end position. Whichever position they address in the first, they could use their second on the opposite.

Expect the Falcons to make at least one trade in this draft. Having only five draft picks just isn’t going to set well with Thomas Dimitroff and Dan Quinn. Expect at least one trade down. They could even trade down in the first round and draft a guy like Emmanuel Ogbah and pick up another second-round pick in the process.
