NFL teams will always have to rely on players to step up and the Atlanta Falcons will be in desperate need to have some players have expanded roles and impact the team in 2016.

At the moment the Falcons’ depth chart is looking a little thin in some areas. The defense is what is looking the most thin and that could pose some the problems. Atlanta has the fewest draft picks this season but they will have a lot of money to bring in undrafted free agents.

It’s never good to have to rely on players who aren’t really capable of carrying a heavy workload but it’s starting to look like the Falcons are going to have to take what they can get at this point. They cut three starting defensive players in William Moore, Justin Durant and Paul Soliai and that has them searching for replacements.

One thing is for certain. The Falcons are going to need a good draft if they want to compete for a NFC South title. They still need to find at least two starters on the defense and at least one starter on the offense. Odds are they won’t be able to fill all of those in the draft so that means they will need some younger players to step it up and take on an expanded role.

Here are five players who will likely see an expanded role in 2016.
