TE Jared Cook

Tight end is far from the Falcons’ biggest need, but they could still benefit from another receiving threat at the position.

Jacob Tamme had a solid debut campaign in Atlanta and was leaned on by Matt Ryan at times at the backend of 2015, but he lacked consistency. Tamme tallied 657 receiving yards and a touchdown which is nothing to turn your nose up at, but they are far from eye-popping numbers.

Unfortunately, finding a game-changer is unlikely for the Falcons. The rookie tight end class is a weak one with only a few names worth a selection in the 2016 NFL Draft. With just five picks, the Falcons will likely steer clear of the position.

Enter Jared Cook. Far from a star player, but one that could come on the cheap and give the Falcons much-needed depth at tight end. Cook has the speed and athleticism to get open downfield, it’s just hanging onto the football regularly that has been his biggest problem. Cook’s never been able to turn all of his potential into great play at the position, but he’s also had poor luck with the quarterbacks throwing him the football.

For the right price, Cook would be worth signing. Is he an upgrade on Tamme? The jury is out. Is he an upgrade on Levine Toilolo? Almost certainly.
