There probably won’t be anyone worth drafting at pick 17 anyways

The closer we get to draft night, the more it looks like the Falcons won’t have any of their top targets left on the board by the time they are on the clock. Shaq Lawson, Reggie Ragland and Darron Lee are the three players that get mocked to the Falcons the most, but there’s a very good chance that none of them will still be there.

It should be a rather easy call to make in trading back if those three players are gone. If one of them is still on the board then they could very well take him but it still would be wise to trade back despite that.

Of the three on that list, Lawson would be the best fit in Atlanta. He is the former Clemson teammate of Vic Beasley and to have a duo like those to makes all the sense in the world. Unfortunately for the Falcons, he’s the one player on that list who is all but a lock to be gone by pick 17.

I’m all for the Falcons drafting Lawson at 17. If he’s there, he’s the pick without a doubt. But, if it’s down to Ragland or Lee, the best move would still be to trade down and draft a guy like Ogbah or Dodd and pick up that all important extra second-round pick.
