27th in scoring defense, 21st in rushing defense, 32nd in passing defense, 31st in sacks per game, and 32nd in total defense in 2014.

Insert Dan Quinn.

14th in scoring defense, 14th in rushing defense, 18th in passing defense, 15th in total defense in 2015.

The addition of Quinn has turned the team around already. I haven’t even noted the fact that he is only one year in of implementing his blueprint, getting his type of players to fit the particular 4-3 Under scheme, nor does he have a dependable pass rushing element as documented with the omission of the sacks per game stat. Since day one, Quinn has preached the outlook of fast and physical football and the Falcons are certainly underway to molding into that outlook. The addition of Derrick Shelby, the growth of Vic Beasley, and some key draft picks looming has this defense on the rise.
