Atlanta Falcons: Five options at safety in the draft
3) Karl Joseph
Karl Joseph is a player that continues to show up with links to the Atlanta Falcons and rightfully so. When healthy Joseph is the best safety in this draft but he isn’t healthy. And as a result, his true draft stock is unknown. Many scouts project him to be a second to third-round pick but where he goes in that 2-round span is up in the air.
Joseph is a hard-hitting safety that is seemingly everywhere on the football field. He’s proven that he can be good in coverage and is trusted enough to step up in the box and make a big tackle. What scouts don’t particularly like is his durability. He’s a 6-foot safety that weighs just over 200 pounds isn’t the best in the draft and his average size might scare some teams away with his recent injury past.
However, many scouts absolutely love him. One AFC scout believed that Joseph has no limits and can do anything that you ask him to do. Joseph has an aggressive, attacking demeanor and can be a leader on the defense. this is a real possibility for the Falcons if he clears medical.
