Report: Su’a Cravens works out for the Atlanta Falcons
USC’s Su’a Cravens is in Atlanta as we speak to meet with the Falcons
One of the most intriguing players in the 2016 NFL draft is linebacker/safety Su’a Cravens and he’s making a stop down south to meet with the Atlanta Falcons just three weeks before the draft.
Cravens in many people’s’ eyes could play the role as a box safety for the Falcons and play the Kam Chancellor role for Dan Quinn. It’s expected that Cravens will play weak side linebacker in the NFL, but has proven that he can play the role of box safety very well.
The Falcons need to draft a safety to replace William Moore and Cravens might be the guy even though he’s not a perfect fit. However, Cravens is a tremendous athlete and could be exactly what the Falcons need. He brings speed out of the linebacker/safety position and can lay the wood down on anyone. Yes, anyone.
Cravens clocked in at 6-foot-1, 226 pounds at the combine and ran a 4.69 at his pro day at USC. Even if he isn’t the answer at strong safety, he would solve the other big hole on the Falcons’ defense. Atlanta also needs to fill the starting weak side linebacker spot and if they don’t address that said position with their first-round pick, Cravens could be a great option in the second round.
Two minutes of Cravens’ college tape will have you a sold on him. He flies to the ball and isn’t afraid to knock someone out. He’s a good tackler but will need to add more weight if his full-time role will be linebacker. However, I’m not set on him being a full-time linebacker if the Falcons were to draft him.
This is what makes him so intriguing. Having a player that has experience playing multiple positions sets them apart from the others. And Quinn is no stranger to moving players from one position to another. Look at Ricardo Allen for example.

Should the Falcons draft Cravens if available in the second round? Absolutely.
