Round 7, 236th overall: OLB Ian Seau, Nevada

Ian Seau is the nephew of the late Junior Seau and is going to make his way onto a team whether or not gets drafted. While playing at Nevada, Seau was used as a standup edge rusher and did a great job of it. He made a lot of big plays in his college career but scouts question whether or not he can translate that into the NFL.

Drafting someone in the seventh round is usually just a shot in the dark. The pick is used on a player that you probably didn’t work out personally but saw at a pro day and was intrigued. Drafting a guy with the last name of Seau is an honor in itself and would instantly become the talk of the town.

Drafting him might just be a publicity stunt, but it would be a smart one. He could very well find himself on the Falcons’ practice squad or shock everyone and make his way onto the 53-man roster. While that isn’t likely, he could make his way onto the roster in a couple of years. He’s definitely worth the pick.
