Good morning, Falcons fans. We are now 22 weeks away from the first NFL Sunday of the 2016 season. That’s just 154 days from now. More importantly in the near future is the 2016 NFL Draft, which is just 18 days away now.

Jalen Collins’ suspension puts a dark cloud over the week’s news, and the Falcons need a gameplan to overcome their lack of depth at cornerback. Many trading down is the best option at this stage. Who knows, maybe a quarterback-needy team will want to jump in front of the New York Jets. Let’s hope Paxton Lynch falls.

As you sip your coffee this fine (NFL-less) Sunday, enjoy these articles from the world of the Atlanta Falcons.

Jalen Collins’ suspension puts the Falcons in a tough spot. Was he going to step up and perform at a higher level than he did as a rookie? That’s anybody’s guess, but now he won’t have the chance for the first quarter of the season. Atlanta needs to find a replacement without much cap room or draft picks. Here’s some options.

Jacob Tamme: ‘I feel poised to have an even better year’ — Andrew Hirsh of AtlantaFalcons.com

By seasons end, Jacob Tamme had become a reliable option in the passing game for Matt Ryan. Now entering his second year in Kyle Shanahan’s offense, Tamme believes he can play at an even higher level. The Falcons certainly need him to as tight end has hardly been a strength on the team for the past few years. Ryan would benefit from a big-time threat in the passing game.

Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant and his brothers, Marcus and Isaia, threw out the opening pitch at a Tacoma Rainiers baseball game. Desmond Trufant comes from a family with plenty of NFL experience: Marcus and Isaia both played in the NFL. Oldest brother Marcus was a Pro Bowl cornerback in 2007 with the Seattle Seahawks.
