Atlanta Falcons: Ranking the 2016 linebacking crew
7) Philip Wheeler – WILL
the Atlanta Falcons signed Philip Wheeler mid way through the 2015 season and that turned out to be a very good decision. Wheeler had a very solid season as a backup and for that he was re-signed. The Georgia-native will again be used in a backup roll, but this time around he might not see the field as much as he did in 2015.
Wheeler now has two players that play his position to deal with. those names will go unnamed for the sake of this article, but you know who they are. Wheeler will play on special teams a lot, but it might be his ability to share his expertise with the young players that keeps him around for the entire season. Having a veteran linebacker is a must on any team. Wheeler will be a leader and teach others to lead. That’s more valuable than you know.
