What are the most intriguing training camp battles for the Atlanta Falcons this summer?

The value of training camp is quite evident year in and year out. It’s an opportunity for units to establish communication and cohesion, rookies to get acclimated to the rigors of an NFL practice, and probably the most important factor, battles to be named the starter come opening week or to fill a void as a key reserve.

There are a number of battles to monitor during training camp this summer. Those battles are the result of the Falcons spending a little cash in free agency as well as drafting key rookies for this upcoming season.

At the conclusion of the 2015 season, it was vivid that the Falcons were going to have to upgrade or add talent to several positions. Prior to Week 1 in 2015, FS Ricardo Allen became the winner of a key battle at free safety and if you recall, then-rookie Tevin Coleman became the starter at running back thanks to his play in training camp and a timely injury to backfield mate Devonta Freeman.

So for this edition of Falcons training camp, here are the five biggest battles (not in order of importance) to keep a very close eye on.
